Tallinn Hobby Centre “Kullo” Folk Dance Ensemble SÕLEKE

The ensemble “Sõleke” was founded in 1976 at the Tallinn Hobby Centre “Kullo” The ensemble consists of more than 250 members.  They master different styles of dances; however, Estonian folk dances prevail. “Sõleke” is also a dance school for both children and adults (from 4 to 40 years of age). The youth dance group between the ages of 20 and 25 will come to Riga.

A large part of the ensemble’s repertoire has been created by Ene Jakobson – the founder and chief choreographer of “Sõleke”, and also by dance teachers Helena-Mariana Reimann and Jaanika Liiu. Many of the dances created by these choreographers have received several new choreography awards and prizes. Moreover, Ene Jakobson has received several prizes, among them from the city of Tallinn, the Estonian Ministry of Culture and the President of Estonia.

In addition to active concert life in Estonia, “Sõleke” also performs in festivals and competitions abroad. Up till now “Sõleke” has visited Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Austria, Poland, Germany, Croatia, Italy, Spain, Greece, China, Canada, USA, South Korea, Thailand, Morocco and Russia.
